Job Description:

Medical Assistants are an integral part of Care Teams at Oak Street Health, responsible for supporting a team-based approach to providing high-quality, holistic care for adults on Medicare in underserved communities. The role involves ensuring efficient patient flow, delivering an excellent patient experience, performing diagnostic testing, and participating in care team meetings. Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure efficient patient flow by rooming patients in a timely manner and assisting the provider with staying timely on their schedule
  • Deliver an exceptional patient experience and help patients prepare for their provider visit
  • Obtain vital signs, chief complaints and review medications
  • Deliver patient screenings per protocols
  • Order supplies and stock exam rooms
  • Conduct routine quality control checks, including infection control measures and equipment QAs
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, safe, and ready for patient visits
  • Provide telephonic support to patients under direction of an RN, provider and/or protocol
  • Perform MA appropriate visits under RN or Provider direction, such as administering vaccinations and performing procedures (ABI, spirometry, EKGs, etc.)
  • Perform waived laboratory testing
  • Schedule diagnostic testing
  • Apply or assist with the application of durable medical equipment
  • Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations
  • Other duties, as assigned

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in a Medical Assistant role
  • CPR Certification required
  • Medical Assistant certification or registration required (over 5 years of applicable, consecutive Medical Assistant experience may substitute for this requirement)
  • EMR experience and proficiency required
  • 2+ years of experience working with geriatric patients preferred
  • Phlebotomy Technician Certification preferred
  • Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills, accountability, and a flexible, positive attitude
  • Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by people in the communities served (where necessary and indicated)
  • US work authorization

Nice to have:

  • 2+ years of experience working with geriatric patients
  • Phlebotomy Technician Certification
  • Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by people in the communities served
