Job Description:

Our client, a public/government entity is looking for a Contract Attorney to assist with investigations related to district policies, compliance, and employment matters. This is a remote opportunity for candidates based in California who hold an active California Bar license. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting investigations, analyzing evidence, and delivering clear recommendations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Investigate complaints involving district policies and legal compliance
  • Review, gather, and analyze evidence, such as witness statements and documents
  • Write clear, concise reports summarizing findings
  • Provide legal recommendations to aid decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with California and federal employment and education laws
  • Work with district leadership to resolve employee relations issues appropriately
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical investigative practices

Requirements:

  • Must have a Juris Doctor (JD) and current California Bar license
  • Experience investigating workplace issues, preferably in employment, education, or labor law
  • Strong knowledge of California labor and education regulations
  • Excellent research, analytical, and report-writing skills
  • Understanding of Title IX, administrative hearings, and public-sector labor matters is beneficial
  • Ability to independently manage multiple investigations in a remote environment
