We are on the lookout for a diligent Project Accountant to join our team based in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. This is a smaller office where everyone plays a part in the daily operations and where the Project Accountant wears multiple hats. As a Project Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing various accounting operations including maintaining the General Ledger, processing full cycle payroll, bank and account reconciliations, and assisting with budget and forecast processes as well as payroll, HR and Benefits. This role is in the construction/home building industry, so construction accounting is mandatory and offers an exciting employment opportunity.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and maintain the General Ledger
Handle bank and account reconciliations
Ensure accurate upkeep of cash spreadsheets
Assist in the completion of full cycle payroll processing
Oversee month-end closing processes
Coordinate the maintenance of Human Resource Employee Files
Administer benefits
Provide assistance for year-end work paper preparation for tax and audit
Participate in the Budget and Forecast process and completion
Handle special projects as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
Proficiency in bank reconciliations
Experience with general ledger management
Ability to make journal entries accurately and efficiently
Proficiency in month-end close procedures
Experience in construction accounting is a plus
Knowledge of WIP (Work In Progress) accounting methods
Variance analysis skills
Experience in job cost accounting
Expertise in account reconciliation
Comfortable handling cash deposits
Proficiency in making wire transfers
Experience with Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions
Experience handling rebates
Knowledge of project cost accounting
Experience with full cycle payroll processing
Knowledge of Human Resources (HR) administration is a plus
Proficiency in benefits administration
Experience in 401k or RRSP administration
Experience in financial statement preparation
Nice to have:
Experience in construction accounting
Knowledge of Human Resources (HR) administration
