Research Scientist I

• Applies in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in polymer science, chemistry, and engineering to optimize material (thermoplastics and thermosets) properties
• schedules and leads a team through the planning and execution of a smaller project or defined piece of a larger project
• communicates key information and recommendations to influence technical decisions and strategies
• defines material requirements and develops specifications
• devises new and innovative approaches to complex problems
• provides technical mentoring to entry level engineers and scientists.

• Minimum 8 years’ experience with B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent or 6+ years with a Masters
• expertise in one or more of the following technical areas: polymer & drug compatibility, polymer chemistry, polymer physics, polymer rheology, polymer adhesion, polymer/rubber formulation, polymer coating, polymer processing, or polymer characterization
• experience utilizing material characterization tools (i.e. thermal, mechanical, microscopy, optical, rheological, various chemistry analytical such as HPLC, GCMS, etc.)
• proven technical understanding of polymer science and engineering principles
• preferred 3+ years of experience in Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industry
• ability to solve material-related problems with minimal assistance and provide technical knowledge for materials projects with substantial complexity and scope
• demonstrated ability to decompose complex problems into task lists
• strong communication skills and ability to perform within a cross-functional team environment.

Preferred 3+ years of experience in Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industry.
