My client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join the team, focusing on financial operations such as month-end closings, inventory management, fixed asset tracking, payroll entries, and tax filings. Responsibilities also include providing backup support to the Accounting Manager, improving workflows, and assisting during audits.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain an accurate and complete general ledger in accordance with GAAP principles
Process recurring AR, AP, and GL journal entry templates, updating or terminating them as necessary
Review, edit, and post A/P batches and Amex allocations with proper G/L coding
Perform monthly journal entries for unearned revenue recognition and balance sheet reconciliations
Manage month-end account closings, reconciliations, and financial analyses
Reconcile daily and monthly banking activities, including debits and credits
Prepare and record bi-monthly payroll journal entries and conduct payroll analyses
Set up Secretary of State accounts for new employees in work states and support payroll with account info
File Sales and Use taxes for the Washington D.C. Metro area (DC, MD, and VA)
Track and account for fixed asset additions and disposals
Collaborate with logistics on inventory management for HaaS (Hardware-as-a-Service) and internal employee equipment using inventory software (SnipeIt)
Compile required information for the company’s CPA firm for annual property tax filings
Support annual 1099/1096 processing and year-end financial reporting for parent tax filings
Serve as a liaison during internal and external audits, providing requested documentation and information
Manage and update documentation of department processes to improve systems and workflows
Collaborate and communicate with staff across various departments to resolve issues and address queries
Handle ad hoc projects and additional responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
At least 3+ years of experience with monthly financial closing activities and related responsibilities
Proven ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including managers, clients, and team members
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Self-directed team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision
Nice to have:
Valid driver’s license
access to a registered vehicle
proof of required insurance
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation
Familiarity with financial software and tools for accounting and inventory management
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain professionalism in a dynamic environment
