Job Description:

This role reports into the Finance Manager and is responsible for providing lead accounting support for our accounting function. This position contributes to our financial health through responsibilities that include: lead for new contract setup; accounts receivable lead for the company, and accounting system and work process training for the accounting and payroll team. This position will have a close working relationship with the accounting, payroll, and finance team members as well as leadership throughout the organization.

Job Responsibility:

  • New contract setup and maintenance in our accounting systems including dissemination of new contract info to the rest of the accounting team
  • Responsibility for centralized system-wide accounts receivable, ensuring that invoicing and receivable functions are administered with best practices
  • In collaboration with the accounting manager, provide budget system inputting and reporting, as well as updates as needed
  • Liaison between internal program managers, billing departments and government contract managers
  • Responsibility for accounting and reporting for joint venture and sub-contractor partnerships, ensuring that timely payable and receivable processes occur, in close cross-functional working relationship with the Finance Manager
  • Prepare documents for auditing as needed
  • Identify and prevent gaps in processing using technology, team-based work processes and the use of reporting
  • Provide excellent customer service and follow up, both internally to MEL and externally with our outside partners
  • Using our financial systems, Excel and other accounting tools and software, analyze trends and create reports as needed
  • Other projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be detail oriented

  • have strong follow through on assigned responsibilities
  • Ability to work with financial systems and accounting software
  • Demonstrated ability with Excel
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to create reports and analyze data
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of experience in related work
  • Government contract experience is a plus
