Job Description:

The Sr Category Manager T-Cloud will is a lead position that will procure hardware/services for buildout of T-Mobile Cloud. It will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to achieve significant cost reductions while maintaining/improving product quality and supplier service levels for T-Mobile Cloud server hardware. The Sr Category Manager will drive practical changes to current process as required for sourcing directly from hardware design firms. It will be responsible for leadership of strategic category management, supplier negotiations, contracts, and ongoing supplier management for server hardware. It will work closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement effective cost reduction strategies and deployment plans. Its primary responsibility is to utilize industry best practices to generate real savings while making effective supply base decisions to meet stakeholder expectations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Strategically manage spend by utilizing a proven sourcing process that engages stakeholders and aligns to business objectives
  • Gains credibility and secures high-levels of internal stakeholder's buy-in to strategic initiatives
  • Drive practical changes to current process as required for sourcing directly from hardware design firms
  • Analyzes global Category or service market trends for assigned material/service purchases and communicate opportunities to management, recommending action plans based on market trends and analysis
  • Develops and directs annual cost savings programs that directly affect company financials and growth plans and generate progressive, year over year cost reductions
  • Leads supplier selection process, qualification of alternative sources, supply base rationalization programs and other relevant strategies to optimize the supply base
  • Active Supplier Relationship Management: Development and measurement of KPl's, supplier audits, business reviews, improvement plans, new opportunities, awards, terminations, etc. including savings tracking and ongoing communication to management and stakeholders
  • Prepares and facilitates RFx (RFP, RFI, RFQ, etc) projects for assigned categories
  • Performs proposal analysis, including price analyses, "Should Cost" modeling, benchmarking, etc. Develop cost targets for negotiations, negotiation strategy, and develop and negotiate agreements
  • Acts as Liaison for resolving supplier-related issues for assigned categories
  • Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management/Business/Engineering (Required)
  • Master's/Advanced Degree (Preferred)
  • 10+ years experience in procurement/sourcing technology solutions (Required)
  • 5+ year experience in global procurement with global supply chain (Required)
  • 3+ years experience sourcing server hardware and services, networking gear or equivalent (Required)
  • 2-4 years experience in other IT-centric global procurement experience (Preferred)
  • Advanced key procurement skills: Development / management of category strategies
  • RFP / RFI development, contract negotiations, strategic sourcing, management of supplier relationship lifecycle, understanding of risk mitigation principles, and understanding of various cost evaluation methods (TCO, ROI, Payback Period, etc.)
  • Results driven, innovative & creative
  • Aligns and energizes behind common objectives, action-oriented & willing to face challenging situations
  • The ability to formulate and articulate a strategy and business case and build a tactical path
  • Demonstrates candor
  • ability to respectfully challenge senior leadership
  • Comfort/familiarity with constructing presentations, organization communications, and business cases
  • Strong ability to build relationships and networks with multiple functions and at the leadership levels
  • Strong analytical capabilities and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • CPM, CTPE or CCP preferred (Preferred)
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
