Job Description:

Join a team that will support and help you progress in your career! This outstanding school supports pupils with an Autism diagnosis. You would be joining an expert and dedicated team whose aim is to provide the best educational, care and transition pathways for children and young people from ages 4 - 19 years. The staff deliver individualised curriculum focused on promoting effective learning, the ability to learn in new ways and to learn independently. They ensure the best outcomes possible enabling all pupils to reach their full potential both at school and at home.

Job Responsibility:

Providing teaching and support to pupils with autism, following individualised curriculums
Planning, preparing and delivering lessons and activities, focusing largely on life skills
Supporting pupils' participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practice
Providing behaviourally based support to reduce behaviours that impact quality of life
Providing personal care, encouraging pupils to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene (toileting, feeding)
Monitoring pupil progress, ensuring teaching is appropriate and effective for pupil needs
Assisting with breaktime duties including playground support and snack time

Requirements:

Minimum Grade C/4 or equivalent in English Language & Maths
Professional, personal or voluntary experience of working with children and disabilities
Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour
Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required
Ability to keep calm in high pressure situation
Own means of transport, due to location desirable

Nice to have:

Keen interest in psychology and mental health
Positive attitude, patience and resilience
