Job Description:

Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill an Accountant, Payroll/HR Administrator role for a growing, international company in the retail apparel industry. The role will be responsible for accounting for up to seven retail stores including reconciliation of inventory, calculation of commissions, preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and management reports. Additionally, the accountant will handle the full cycle of Human Resources and payroll processing for two companies, including benefits administration and collaboration with a third-party payroll administrator.

Job Responsibility:

  • Responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day financial activities of multiple retail stores including recording sales, reconciling inventory, calculating commissions and incentive plans, fixed assets and lease accounting
  • Responsible for establishing accounting for new stores
  • Responsible for payroll and HR benefits administration for all US-based employees.

Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting
  • Must have at least 3 years of accounting experience
  • Payroll and Human Resources experience is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of financial statements and GAAP principles
  • Ability to identify accounting errors and resolve with limited guidance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Proficiency with any ERP system required
  • Experience with Shopify desired
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the accounting field
  • Proficiency in performing Bank Reconciliations
  • Expertise in managing and maintaining the General Ledger
  • Ability to make accurate Journal Entries
  • Experience in Month End Close procedures
  • Knowledge of Inventory Accounting procedures and practices
  • Experience in calculating and managing Commissions
  • Familiarity with Human Resources (HR) Administration tasks
  • Experience in handling Payroll for multiple states.
