Job Description:

Robert Half is seeking a meticulous and innovative Accountant to support our client with the management and accounting of capital projects. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who understands the complexities of accounting related to fixed assets, construction in progress, and project cost tracking. The position requires analytical expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Track, analyze, and report on project costs related to capital expenditures
  • Manage the CIP schedule, providing updates on completed and ongoing capital projects
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset records, including acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
  • Monitor budgets for capital projects, identifying cost variances and trends
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports related to capital projects and fixed assets for month-end and year-end close processes
  • Ensure proper allocation of costs to appropriate accounts and project categories
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and organizational policies in all accounting activities related to capital expenditures
  • Work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and the finance department to streamline processes and provide insights into capital project performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or progress toward certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in accounting, with specific experience in capital project accounting or fixed asset management
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, real estate, or similar industries that focus on capital projects is a plus
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Peoplesoft is preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling
  • Familiarity with project management and accounting software is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP as it relates to capital projects, fixed assets, and depreciation
  • Understanding of construction accounting and the capitalization process
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • High level of organization to manage multiple capital projects concurrently

Nice to have:
