Job Description:

We are providing a long term contract employment opportunity in the logistics industry, based in Collierville, Tennessee, for an Accounting Clerk. In this role, you will primarily focus on reconciling bank checks using internal software, maintaining vigilance for fraudulent activities, and performing light payroll functions.

Job Responsibility:

Ensuring accurate reconciliation of bank checks against internal systems
Employing meticulous attention to detail to identify potential fraudulent checks
Overseeing the decision-making process for cashing checks, using access to various banking platforms
Identifying and logging cases of overpayments to employees
Collaborating with the Processing team to initiate overpayment letters
Managing overpayment checks in our case management system, including coding checks for deposit
Performing duties within the off-cycle checkroom
Supporting other light payroll functions as needed

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Proven experience as an Accounting Clerk or similar role
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with accounting software, such as QuickBooks or Sage
In-depth knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures
Strong understanding of reconciliations and payments reconciliation
Excellent data entry skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
Strong numerical skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions
Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and work under pressure
Proactive and able to identify issues before they become problems
Familiarity with the logistics industry would be advantageous
