Job Description:

We are on the lookout for an experienced Assistant Controller to be a part of our team in the construction industry, located in New Castle, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the financial management, reporting, and operational processes of our team. You will be leveraging Viewpoint software to optimize accounting and construction-specific workflows and will report directly to the Controller.

Job Responsibility:

Support the creation of accurate financial statements and related reports, adhering to company policies and GAAP
Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and job costing, using Viewpoint software
Reconcile financial transactions, including bank and credit card accounts, and ensure accurate documentation within Viewpoint
Use Viewpoint to manage multi-phase project budgets, including job costing, revenue recognition, and expense allocations
Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliations
Assist in managing cash flow and forecasting by analyzing project billing cycles, vendor payments, and additional revenue streams
Collaborate with project managers to ensure budgets, estimates, and change orders are accurately reflected in financial records
Prepare construction-related financial reports, including Work in Progress reports, variance analysis, and compliance documentation
Assist with tax return filing, issuing 1099s to vendors, and adhering to local, state, and federal regulations specific to the construction industry
Serve as a resource for project audits and liaise with external auditors and stakeholders during financial reviews
Assist the Controller in identifying and implementing process improvements to optimize financial workflows and enhance reporting accuracy
Stay updated on construction accounting trends and ensure the organization utilizes the full capabilities of Viewpoint software to maximize efficiency

Requirements:

Proficiency in various accounting functions
Demonstrated experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
Must possess knowledge and experience in handling Accounts Receivable (AR)
Prior experience in auditing
Familiarity with Viewpoint Vista software
A strong background in financial reporting
