We are in the search for a meticulous Assistant Controller to be part of our client's team in the Credit Union industry located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In this role, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for various tasks such as maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring quality service to members and staff, and assisting in the development of financial reports. The role also involves overseeing the financial close process and participating in the budget process.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee the maintenance and processing of data used in the asset and liability model
Assist in the development and maintenance of all financial reporting including month-end, Board reports, Asset-Liability Committee reports, and regulatory and annual audits
Participate actively in the budget process, including the collection, development, and formalization of required data
Oversee the review and reporting of mortgage accounting activities, including accrued interest, service fees, portfolio inventory, and recordkeeping of loan sales and payoffs
Assist in maintaining a highly motivated, well-trained staff and evaluate job performance to ensure quality of work and service to members and staff
Analyze, document, and make recommendations related to lines of business, products, or services as needed
Oversee the Investment Accounting and Administration
Assist with the development and maintenance of financial and statistical metrics as defined in the organization's strategic plan
Aid in coordinating critical activities required during a disaster recovery event
Oversee accounting and review of all AES/PHEAA/Student Choice/Lendkey loan reporting
Assist with various federal, state, and local filings
Ensure completion and preparation of accurate and timely prepared general ledger reconciliations for all entities
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the Credit Union or banking industry
Proficiency in accounting functions is required
Proven experience in auditing is necessary
Familiarity with Accounting for Mortgage Bankers (AMB) software is a must
Experience in creating and managing an annual budget is expected
Knowledge and experience in managing a general ledger is essential
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is required
