Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in public service to utilize your skills and experience for the betterment of the County office.

Job Responsibility:

Provide legal advice and representation to various departments
Handle legal research and writing tasks
Assist with evaluation of litigation filed against the Sheriff's Office
Draft contracts, policies, correspondence, and other documents requiring legal expertise
Respond to subpoenas for records, criminal justice record requests, and open records requests
Represent the Sheriff's Office in court proceedings when necessary
Monitor developments in law, including proposed legislation and court decisions
Review policies, procedures, and training for legal compliance
Conduct interviews with clients, prepare witnesses, and handle other details in preparation for court
Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for assigned officials, department heads, or law enforcement agencies

Requirements:

Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Attorney/Lawyer
Proficiency in using Case Management Software
Demonstrable experience with Document Management in a legal setting
Skills in Briefing and presenting legal cases
Experience in Civil Litigation and Claim Administration
Proven ability to handle complaints in a detail-oriented and efficient manner
Civil Litigation Experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment
Trial Experience with a strong record of successful case outcomes
Knowledge and experience in Criminal Law
