Job Description:

The Assistant Maintenance Manager at Protea Hotel Nelspruit is responsible for installing, maintaining, and performing preventative maintenance on tools, appliances, and equipment. The role involves calibrating controls, managing inventory, responding to guest repair requests, and assisting in disaster response protocols. The position also includes supervisory responsibilities such as hiring, training, and evaluating employees, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and maintaining a professional appearance. The job requires physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Job Responsibility:

Install, maintain, perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances, and equipment
Calibrate controls, gauges, meters
Identify, locate, and operate shut-off valves
Order, mark, and stock parts
Maintain inventory and purchase orders log
Inspect tools, equipment, or machines
Operate power lift
Complete life safety checklist
Assist in development of disaster response protocols
Respond to guest repair requests
Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating employees
Follow company and safety policies
Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries
Complete safety training and certifications
Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
Welcome and acknowledge guests
Anticipate and address guests’ service needs
Assist individuals with disabilities
Develop and maintain positive working relationships
Support team to reach common goals
Listen and respond appropriately to employee concerns
Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
Identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings
Speak with others using clear and professional language
Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
Perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and placing objects
Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps
Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors

Requirements:

Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree
At least 2 years of related work experience
At least 2 years of supervisory experience
