Job Responsibility:
Defense Litigation: Handle cases in various defense litigation areas, including insurance defense, construction law, employment law, product liability, and commercial breach of contract
Research & Documentation: Conduct in-depth legal research on complex issues and draft, prepare, and handle legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, orders, and other legal documents
Discovery & Motion Practice: Respond to written discovery, prepare and file dispositive motions, and manage case evaluations for clients in a variety of sectors
Depositions & Trial Preparation: Prepare and take depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts, manage discovery processes, and assist with trial preparation for cases involving slip and fall, premises liability, and breach of contract matters
Court Appearances & Hearings: Appear in court for hearings, motions, and trials as necessary, representing the firm’s clients in complex litigation matters
Client Interaction & Mediation: Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and other client-facing activities, maintaining strong, proactive communication with clients, opposing counsel, and internal stakeholders throughout the litigation process
Caseload Management: Manage a substantial caseload with minimal supervision, ensuring deadlines are met and all aspects of each case are handled with efficiency and care
Requirements:
1-6 years of experience in defense litigation (commercial, insurance, employment, construction law)
Must hold a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited ABA law school
Must be licensed to practice in New Jersey (PA and NY bar admissions are a plus)
Strong writing, research, and communication skills
Proficiency in legal research tools (Westlaw, Lexis, etc.) and MS Office Suite
Ability to manage discovery, depositions, and draft legal documents independently
Experience handling cases in federal, state, and appellate courts
Experience with insurance defense, breach of contract, premises liability, and employment law
Familiarity with trial preparation, mediation, and arbitration
Nice to have:
PA and NY bar admissions
