Job Description:

A respected and expanding law firm is seeking an experienced Childcare Solicitor (2+ PQE) to join its team. The role involves managing a caseload of public law childcare matters, representing parents, guardians, and children in public law proceedings. The position offers a competitive salary, hybrid working options, and opportunities for career progression and professional development.

Job Responsibility:

managing a caseload of public law childcare matters, including care proceedings, child protection issues, emergency protection orders, and special guardianship applications
representing clients in court, conducting advocacy where appropriate
advising clients with empathy and professionalism, ensuring their best interests are met
liaising with local authorities, guardians, expert witnesses, and barristers
supporting junior team members, including trainees and paralegals
assisting with business development and helping to grow the firm’s childcare law offering

Requirements:

2+ years’ PQE with experience in public childcare law
a strong understanding of public law proceedings, including care and supervision orders, adoption, and emergency protection orders
advocacy experience is desirable but not essential
a commitment to client care, with the ability to handle sensitive and complex cases
strong communication and negotiation skills
willingness to work towards Children Panel Accreditation
