Job Description:

We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Commercial Accounting role in the Energy/Natural Resources industry, based in Parsippany, New Jersey, United States. As a detail-oriented individual in Commercial Accounting, you will handle vital accounting functions for our commercial operations group, focusing on inventory valuation calculation and analysis which is essential for our company's decision-making process.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conduct LIFO Inventory valuation calculation and assess its financial influence on the company's outcomes
  • Handle RINS and AB32 calculations and analysis, ensuring compliance with complex regulations significant to the company's financials
  • Manage the analysis and recording of derivative calculations involving intricate mark to market accounting
  • Oversee the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and borrowing base certificates by accounting associates
  • Handle the preparation of all monthly close journal entries and reconciliations related to refined products for a specific refinery
  • Administer the preparation, analysis, and review of weekly forecasts, providing important insights for management in setting expectations for monthly close results
  • Manage the preparation of ad hoc and other strategic analyses/projects as requested by management
  • Utilize tools such as Accounts Payable (AP) and SAP to streamline and optimize accounting processes

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required
  • Demonstrated work experience in commercial accounting within the energy/natural resources sector
  • Solid knowledge and practical experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Proficiency in using SAP software for accounting and financial tasks
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail for accurate financial reporting
  • Capability to interpret and analyze financial statements and periodicals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders
  • Proficient in Office applications, particularly in Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines without compromising on work quality
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions
  • Must be a team player with an ability to work independently when required
