Job Description:

We are looking for an Unpaid Work Supervisor to supervise individuals serving community sentences, guiding them through work placements that benefit the local area. This role involves supporting rehabilitation and improving the community, requiring leadership and a sense of responsibility.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supervise unpaid work clients in accordance with National Standards and Council policies and procedures
  • supervise and co-ordinate squad placements, including supervising offenders serving community payback orders
  • ensure the smooth running of an efficient squad whilst on site
  • prepare squad work plans for sites including site visits
  • provide basic training to clients on equipment use and task completion
  • monitor and assess work performance of clients to meet timescales
  • complete risk assessments for all sites and work plans
  • carry out driving duties, including transporting clients
  • liaise with internal services and external agencies to deliver an efficient Community Payback Service
  • work with Senior Community Payback Officers to ensure smooth service operation
  • complete proformas regarding attendance, performance, etc.
  • open and secure depots as required
  • participate in service monitoring, review, and development
  • provide testimony in court when required
  • adapt to new procedures or equipment/technology
  • ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act
  • abide by the Council's Equality Policy
  • implement Health & Safety policies
  • perform other duties relevant to the post in line with Council directives and objectives

Requirements:

  • Served a recognised apprenticeship
  • equivalent experience relevant to the post
  • experience in working with vulnerable groups
  • experience of working with partner agencies
  • use of risk assessment
  • demonstrate an understanding of issues surrounding offending behaviour
  • demonstrate good oral and written communication skills
  • demonstrate an ability to motivate
  • demonstrate good team working skills
  • demonstrate good organisational skills
  • demonstrate good negotiation skills
  • demonstrate an ability to interpret and work from drawings, instructions and specifications
  • demonstrate an ability to pass on skills and knowledge to others
  • demonstrate a flexible approach to service delivery
  • demonstrate an ability to work irregular hours (weekend working)
  • hold a full, current driving licence
