Job Description:

Robert Half Legal Permanent Placement is seeking a strategic, and tech-savvy Contracts Counsel to join our dynamic Legal team in the Greater Boston area. This is a prime opportunity for an experienced commercial lawyer to contribute to a global, rapidly growing organization. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, this role is pivotal in providing innovative legal counsel, supporting global commercial initiatives, and optimizing business results through skilled legal negotiations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Drafting and Negotiations: Leverage prior contracts experience to structure, negotiate, and close complex commercial transactions, including vendor and prospective client agreements
  • Procurement Support: Handle indirect procurement contract review and negotiations
  • Internal Guidance: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to evaluate and manage risks associated with proposed transactions
  • Creative Problem Solving: Develop innovative legal solutions to streamline complex negotiations while adhering to company policies and risk tolerances, maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with teams such as Finance, Sales, Information Security, and Product to ensure alignment and foster trusted relationships
  • Contract Optimization: Create, implement, and improve standard agreements, templates, contracting guides, and best practices
  • Project Management: Manage multiple priorities effectively with strong organizational and prioritization skills

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience as in-house counsel or equivalent experience in a law firm
  • Commercial negotiation and drafting experience required
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and standards preferred
  • Experience maintaining relationships with external vendors and partners
  • Exceptional negotiation, drafting, and communication skills
  • High energy, self-motivated, with a sense of urgency to achieve business goals
  • Strong judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the bar in good standing in Massachusetts, New York, or California
  • Broad contracts experience with an emphasis on complex commercial transactions
  • Proficiency in structuring legal agreements that balance business goals with risk tolerance
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple teams, fostering collaboration in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Solid understanding of technology-related legal issues, with SaaS knowledge preferred
