Job Description:

We are on the lookout for a skilled Controller to join our team based in San Mateo, California. This position is in the property management sector, with the main focus on maintaining financial procedures and ensuring the efficient operation of the company's financial activities. The Controller will be responsible for processing customer applications, maintaining accurate customer records, and resolving customer inquiries. This role offers an exciting opportunity.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee the preparation of financial reports and documents such as income statements, balance sheets, and tax returns
Handle accounts payable and receivable to ensure all financial transactions are appropriately managed
Monitor the recording of all financial transactions in the bookkeeping system for accuracy and completeness
Collaborate in the budget preparation and financial planning processes
Conduct regular reconciliations of financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
Evaluate accounting records and financial statements regularly for accuracy and completeness
Work collaboratively with other departments to streamline and improve financial procedures while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
Contribute in conducting financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Requirements:

minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller or similar role
Demonstrated proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
Experience with bank reconciliations is essential
Proficient in managing the general ledger and making journal entries
Familiarity with month-end close procedures is required
Experience with AppFolio software is a plus
