Job Description:

Are you interested in joining a highly regarded company in the BC food industry? Our client, a rapidly expanding organization, is seeking a Controller to oversee financial accounting and establish internal processes that will support continued growth. This individual will report directly to the Director of Finance and manage a team of two accounting technicians.

Job Responsibility:

Supervise and mentor the accounting team, offering guidance, support, and opportunities for professional development
Regularly prepare and review critical financial documents, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
Lead and manage the annual budgeting process, ensuring financial strategies align with the company’s overall objectives
Collaborate cross-functionally with different departments to support business operations and contribute to strategic planning
Develop, implement, and continuously improve internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
Conduct thorough financial analyses to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and potential risks
Oversee the optimization of cash flow by forecasting and managing reserves to ensure smooth business operations
Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax regulations by timely filing tax returns and other necessary documents
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management and the board of directors
Implement and maintain accounting systems and software to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Monitor financial performance, recommending strategies to improve cost control and profitability
Coordinate and manage the annual review engagement process

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
CPA certification is highly desirable
Proven experience working with ERP systems
Strong initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
