In this role, you will oversee financial operations, manage accounting functions, prepare financial reports, and ensure compliance. You will also provide leadership to a small team, ensuring fiscal integrity and alignment with organizational goals.
Job Responsibility:
Manage all accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP and non-profit accounting standards
Develop and oversee the organization's annual budget, monitoring cash flow and financial projections to ensure fiscal stability
Maintain an organized financial system by managing QuickBooks Online
Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership for strategic decision-making
Oversee grant accounting, ensuring proper allocation, reporting, and compliance with funder requirements
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations, including audits and tax filings
Supervise, mentor, and support a small team of accounting/finance employees
Collaborate with program directors and leadership to align financial planning with organizational goals
Provide training and guidance on financial best practices to staff as needed
Requirements:
Proven experience in the non-profit sector as a Controller or a similar role
Proficiency in managing month-end close procedures
Demonstrable skills in financial statement preparation
Familiarity with grant accounting within the non-profit context
Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage budgeting processes
Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including GAAP
Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset
Exceptional communication and leadership skills
Proficiency in using accounting software and databases
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
CPA or CMA certification is highly desirable
Experience with a non-profit organization is preferred
