Job Description:

Robert Half is working with a local company who is seeking a Controller to join their team, based in Kent, Washington. In this role, you will be instrumental in providing financial oversight, enhancing accounting systems, improving process efficiency, and delivering strategic guidance for financial reporting. Your critical role will ensure accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency across all accounting functions, utilizing AI-driven tools for improved financial insights. This is a permanent, direct-hire position that boasts a competitive compensation package and the ability to have some hybrid flexibility.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee bank compliance reporting and align financial statements with industry standards
  • Analyze and generate WIP reports, percentage of completion reports, and job costing data
  • Streamline cost categorization processes and ensure project costs are accurately tracked
  • Assist in managing cash flow and forecasting financial stability
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to address all unreconciled costs promptly
  • Supervise certified payroll processing for specific projects
  • Evaluate and enhance AI-driven processes to improve efficiency in accounting and financial management
  • Oversee AI tools for contract reviews, specification reviews, drawing analysis, and financial forecasting
  • Identify new AI applications to streamline accounting and business processes
  • Ensure weekly payroll is processed efficiently, maintaining compliance with union payroll reporting
  • Manage financial relationships with subcontractors/vendors, ensuring timely payments and compliance with contractual obligations
  • Evaluate bonding and provide insights into growth strategy, working with leadership to position the company for large-scale projects
  • Aid in hiring, training, and mentoring additional accounting staff as the company expands
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, problem-solving, and team-oriented decision-making

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in Deltek ComputerEase is preferred
  • Prior experience in construction accounting/finance is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Accounting Functions
  • Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Knowledge of Auditing practices
  • Familiarity with Budget Processes
  • Understanding of WIP - Work In Progress
  • Ability to calculate percentage (%) of completion
  • Experience in Job Cost management
  • Knowledge of Certified Payroll procedures
  • Familiarity with Union Reports
  • Strong Financial Reporting skills
