We, the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel, are seeking a dynamic and resourceful Director of Event Operations to lead our events team and elevate our renowned galas, weddings, conferences, and corporate gatherings. You will be the driving force behind unforgettable guest experiences and operational excellence. The Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel is Mobile’s premier downtown convention hotel hosting a wide array of corporate and social events throughout the year in over 44,000 feet of meeting and event spaces.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee and coordinate all aspects of event planning and operations, ensuring seamless execution and guest satisfaction
Develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance the guest experience while meeting financial objectives
Lead, train, and inspire the events and banquet staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments to ensure flawless communication and event delivery
Collaborate with clients to design bespoke event layouts and setups, ensuring their visions are brought to life
Act as the main point of contact for high-profile events, resolving any concerns with professionalism and efficiency
Manage event budgets, track expenditures, and implement cost-effective measures to maintain profitability
Conduct regular forecasting and financial reporting to align with organizational goals
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and sanitation regulations for all events
Continuously evaluate event procedures and workflows, recommending improvements for greater efficiency and impact
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in event operations, banquet management, or a comparable leadership role
Must be available to work flexible hours
Proven experience in upscale hospitality, banquet management, or event operations within a similar-sized property
Strong organizational skills and an unparalleled attention to detail
A warm, approachable personality that inspires staff and ensures every guest feels valued
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability under pressure
Proficient in Marriott Software’s Systems and Microsoft Office Suite
