Job Description:

The Divisional Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a division/region ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role requires extensive experience with work-in-progress (WIP) accounting, percent completion revenue recognition, and multi-entity financial management. The ideal candidate will provide financial leadership, optimize financial processes, and support business objectives through effective financial analysis and reporting.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, accounting, and controls for the division, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Manage WIP accounting, including job costing, progress billing, and tracking project financial performance
  • Implement and maintain percent completion revenue recognition methodologies to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Handle multi-entity accounting, consolidations, and intercompany transactions
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with variance analysis
  • Collaborate with operations and project managers to improve financial performance and forecasting accuracy
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes for the division
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial health metrics
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and internal controls
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase financial efficiency
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred)
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or controller role
  • Strong expertise in WIP accounting, percent completion revenue recognition, and multi-entity accounting
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial reporting standards
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments

Nice to have:

  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or professional services industries
  • Hands-on experience with job costing and project-based financial management
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, Viewpoint, NetSuite, or SAP
