Job Description:

The Applications Development Manager is an intermediate management level position responsible for providing full leadership and direction to a team of employees in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Job Responsibility:

Manage a team of Applications Development professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, training and development, hiring and disciplinary actions) as well as act as an advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts
Oversee process for technical issue escalation and prioritize technical issue resolution
Leverage skills across Applications Development area to provide technical oversight across systems and applications
Communicate internal and external departmental interdependence as well as cross product and cross project
Resolve issues using in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within applications development
Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business processes, system processes, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement
Contribute to planning, budget management, formulation of procedures, and resource planning negotiating with external parties when necessary
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
Designing and developing front office eTrading applications for the trading business
Working directly with Traders, Sales, and Quants to shape the future direction of the platform
Utilizing creativity and innovation to improve the technical capabilities of the platform and ensuring it remains stable, flexible, and maintainable
Driving engineering standards and continuing to strive for best
Enhancing our automated testing efforts and optimizing our UAT process
Mentoring strong and energetic team
Serving as advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts
Troubleshooting challenging performance and scalability issues
Providing onsite support to Rates traders in Paris location
Assisting in third line support during core trading hours
Acting as Subject Matter Expert to senior stakeholders and /or other team members
Liaising with the global business, support, and development teams on various exciting projects

Requirements:

5-8 years of relevant experience
Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
Ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects
Experience with dependency management, change management, continuous integration testing tools, and audit/compliance requirements
Extensive knowledge of software engineering and object-oriented design
Demonstrated leadership and management skills
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Master’s degree preferred
Experience in Object oriented programming (Java), Multi-Threading and any relational database
Solid architectural understanding of enterprise applications
Experience with modern software development practices such as Agile development, test-driven development, and continuous integration and continuous delivery
Understanding of computing science fundamentals – concurrency, algorithms, data structures, design patterns, etc.
Experience with Java Core, Spring framework and Linux
Experience developing large financial software trading systems with substantial hands-on development experience in building systems with an attention to optimizing and tuning performance, while also demonstrating critical thinking skills related to re-use, scalability, and troubleshooting
Knowledge of major Financial Products (e.g., EuroGovies/Swaps/GILTS/SAS etc.) and Broker/Customer Markets electronic trading flows
Experience on MongoDB
Worked in an Agile globally distributed team using tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Sonar & Team City
Worked with tools such as IntelliJ, Gradle, etc.
Experience on JSON/XML and REST service

Nice to have:

Experience with Java Core, Spring framework and Linux
Experience developing large financial software trading systems with substantial hands-on development experience in building systems with an attention to optimizing and tuning performance, while also demonstrating critical thinking skills related to re-use, scalability, and troubleshooting
