The firm is seeking a highly motivated and flexible Family Law Attorney with a passion for being in the courtroom and handling emotionally sensitive cases. This position offers the opportunity for mentorship and growth in family law, representing clients in divorce, custody, and family-related matters, requiring courtroom advocacy and strategic thinking in emergency situations. Licensed attorneys in Illinois with a passion for family law and the ability to work in challenging environments are encouraged to apply.
Job Responsibility:
Represent clients in all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and other family-related matters
Handle emergency case situations, such as child abductions or violations of custody agreements, which may require immediate legal action and strategic thinking
Appear in court frequently to represent clients, including managing trials, hearings, and other proceedings
Maintain frequent communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials to ensure cases progress efficiently
Utilize the firm’s user-friendly billing and case management software to track progress and meet billable hour requirements
Work effectively under pressure and adapt quickly to changes in the day-to-day within an emergency-based practice
Balance emotionally taxing material with professionalism and client-focused advocacy
Collaborate with a supportive team that values mentorship, continuous learning, and excellence in family law.
Requirements:
Strong passion for family law and an interest in representing families in challenging and emotionally intricate cases
Courtroom advocacy skills or interest in developing these skills, including trial preparation and execution
Flexibility and ability to pivot throughout the day based on the urgent needs of the firm's caseload
Emotional resilience to deal with sensitive topics, such as child custody and family disputes, with empathy and discretion
Ability to thrive in an emergency-based environment with shifting priorities and deadlines
Proficiency in using legal billing and case management software (training will be provided, but familiarity is a plus)
Licensed to practice law in Illinois
1+ years of legal experience preferred but not required (the firm is willing to train the right candidate)
Interest or prior experience in family law is highly valued.
