Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper/Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting operations of our law firm. This role is critical in handling billing, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), reconciliations, trust accounts, payroll, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in law firm accounting, including trust accounting and billing.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee all bookkeeping and accounting functions, including billing, AP, AR, and general ledger maintenance
  • Manage trust accounts (IOTA and real estate trust accounts) and ensure compliance with industry regulations
  • Perform bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes
  • Coordinate payroll processing using ADP (currently managing payroll for 15 employees across two offices)
  • Work with QuickBooks Desktop (transition to Timeslips may be considered)
  • Utilize electronic billing platforms, ensuring proper reconciliation of incoming payments
  • Prepare financial reports, manage cash flow, and assist with audits when needed
  • Scan and deposit checks using desktop scanning tools
  • Interface with the firm’s accountant, payroll provider, and financial institutions to ensure smooth financial operations

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in a similar role managing accounting for a law firm or professional services firm
  • Strong knowledge of trust accounting, legal billing, and reconciliations
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop, Timeslips, ADP, and electronic billing systems
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts across different locations (Florida & New York)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Trust Accountant or in a similar role
  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct Bank Reconciliations
  • Proficient with the General Ledger and Journal Entries
  • Experience in performing Month End Close procedures
  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP software
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field is required
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred
