Job Description:

This role is pivotal in a law firm setting where you will handle all accounting and bookkeeping duties for a team of ten Lawyers, including the personal accounts of the Managing Partner of the firm. You will be expected to work closely with the Managing Partner and oversee all the financial operations of the law firm, including accounts payable and receivable, creating monthly balance sheets, income statements, year-end closings, tax payments, and managing subscriptions and agreements.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee the financial operations of the law firm
  • Complete the year-end closings and manage tax payments
  • Submit staff working hours to the payroll company bi-monthly and distribute payroll records
  • Maintain and manage health and dental benefits records
  • Track and allocate expenses, as well as collect and track weekly billable, non-billable hours for the team of lawyers
  • Analyze cash flow and provide insight and recommendations for best financial practices
  • Generate reports and financial statements including profit/loss, year-end closing of accounts
  • Maintain and renew leasing agreements for photocopiers, legal books, postage machine, IT vendor contract, and phone systems contracts
  • Maintain and track insurance agreements including detail-oriented liability, cyber insurance, property insurance for building, auto insurance for vehicles, and malpractice insurance
  • Track lawyers' state license renewal dates and ensure C.L.E. compliance of each
  • Balance the personal credit card accounts and personal bank statements for the Managing Partner, and make personal disbursements as needed

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
  • Experience with ADP - Financial Services
  • Must be familiar with Computerized Accounting System
  • Knowledge of Great Plains (GPAC)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions
  • Experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Must have experience with Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Ability to manage an annual budget
  • Must have skills in Cash Flow Analysis
