Job Description:

As a General Manager at Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel, Des Moines, Iowa, you will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s day-to-day operations, driving financial performance, revenue growth, guest satisfaction, and team morale. You’ll collaborate closely with the VP of Operations, VP of Sales and Marketing, and the revenue generation team to implement strategies that ensure sustained success. The role includes managing a full-service Food & Beverage operation, including a restaurant, bar/bistro, catering, and over 12,000 square feet of meeting space.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee all aspects of the hotel’s day-to-day operations
  • drive financial performance, revenue growth, guest satisfaction, and team morale
  • manage a full-service Food & Beverage operation
  • deliver attentive, courteous, and efficient service
  • oversee reservations, check-in/check-out processes, billing, and prompt resolution of guest inquiries or concerns
  • foster a positive, team-oriented environment
  • train and supervise staff
  • maximize occupancy and revenue through innovative strategies
  • oversee total hotel operations, including safety, security, maintenance, and compliance
  • implement and manage performance plans, budgets, and forecasts
  • analyze profit and loss statements
  • control labor costs
  • manage expenses effectively
  • lead the restaurant, bar, catering, and banquet teams
  • ensure high standards in food presentation, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years in hotel executive leadership (GM/AGM/DOS)
  • Marriott-branded experience preferred
  • prior sales experience preferred
  • comprehensive knowledge of Food & Beverage operations
  • exceptional communication skills
  • ownership mindset
  • hands-on leadership
  • strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, labor management
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • flexible to work AM/PM shifts, weekends, and holidays
