Job Description:

A leading nonprofit organization in San Mateo is seeking a Grants Specialist to join its Advancement team in a hybrid (onsite/remote) capacity. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in grant-writing, exceptional organizational skills, and a proven ability to successfully manage foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities. This role is critical to ensuring the organization’s financial sustainability through effective grant proposal development, reporting, and strategic funder relationships.

Funding cultivation and solicitation

Requirements:

Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Outlook
Knowledge of fundraising software (such as GrantHub, Salesforce, or similar) is highly desirable
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse groups, including team members, leadership, external partners, and volunteers
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships across communities and maintain professional boundaries with all constituents
Solution-oriented mindset with excellent judgment, discretion, and decision-making skills
Ability to proactively identify and resolve issues while maintaining resilience and focus under pressure
Highly organized with excellent multi-tasking and prioritization skills
Comfortable meeting competing demands with tight deadlines and adapting to unexpected changes
Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of grant-writing and reporting
Flexible with schedules, able to accommodate occasional evening, weekend, or holiday commitments, and quick to adjust to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrates a high level of integrity, professionalism, and ethics, with a focus on maintaining confidentiality at all times
Minimum of four years of foundation, corporate, or government grant-writing experience required
Proven track record of success in securing major funding from local, regional, and national funders
Expertise in grant proposal writing and development, research and prospecting, funding cultivation and solicitation, and project management
Ability to travel between agency locations with a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and registered, insured vehicle.

Nice to have:

Knowledge of fundraising software (such as GrantHub, Salesforce, or similar)
Bachelor's degree or advanced degree(s) preferred.
