We are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our newly opened SEMH primary school in Market Bosworth. With just 16 students currently (expanding to 24 by year-end), this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in a small, supportive setting. Responsibilities include supporting teaching and learning across the school, leading small group interventions, and contributing to a nurturing environment for students with SEMH needs.
Job Responsibility:
Support teaching and learning across the school, working closely with the class teacher
Lead small group interventions and provide 1:1 support for students with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs
Manage and de-escalate extremely challenging behaviours, using positive handling techniques where required
Contribute to a nurturing and structured learning environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff.
Requirements:
Experience working with SEMH pupils and managing challenging behavior
Positive Handling training or experience in de-escalation techniques (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, CPI)
Resilience, patience, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable students
HLTA qualification or extensive TA experience with additional responsibilities.
Nice to have:
Positive handling training (Team Teach, MAPA, CPI) or willingness to be trained
Strong communication skills and a calm, patient approach
A team player who is eager to learn and grow in an SEMH setting.
