Job Description:

We are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our newly opened SEMH primary school in Market Bosworth. With just 16 students currently (expanding to 24 by year-end), this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in a small, supportive setting. You will support teaching and learning, lead small group interventions, and manage challenging behaviours. A rewarding role for someone experienced in working with SEMH pupils.

Job Responsibility:

Support teaching and learning across the school, working closely with the class teacher
Lead small group interventions and provide 1:1 support for students with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs
Manage and de-escalate extremely challenging behaviours, using positive handling techniques where required
Contribute to a nurturing and structured learning environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff
Provide individual and small group support for students with SEMH needs
Assist teachers in delivering engaging and structured lessons
Help students develop positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
Use positive handling techniques to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements:

Experience working with SEMH pupils and managing challenging behaviour
Positive Handling training or experience in de-escalation techniques (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, CPI)
Resilience, patience, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable students
HLTA qualification or extensive TA experience with additional responsibilities
Strong communication skills and a calm, patient approach
A team player who is eager to learn and grow in an SEMH setting
