Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate Immigration Paralegal to join a leading boutique law firm in Madison, WI. Your critical role will involve comprehensive support to lawyers and clients handling various immigration matters. You will be exposed to a broad range of immigration cases covering employment-based petitions, family-based petitions, deportation defense, asylum, and humanitarian applications.

Job Responsibility:

Conducting client intake meetings in English and Spanish and gathering pertinent documents
Delivering written and oral translations in Spanish to English and English to Spanish
Assisting lawyers with preparation and submission of immigration petitions, applications, and appeals
Staying abreast of legal issues and updates to immigration laws and regulations
Maintaining an effective record-keeping and case management systems
Corresponding with clients, governmental agencies, and other parties involved
Providing necessary administrative assistance to lawyers
Exhibiting sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural barriers

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of Paralegal experience, ideally in immigration law
Fluent in Spanish and English (written and verbal)
Two or four-year degree and/or paralegal certification preferred
Familiarity with USCIS filing procedures and EOIR Courts and Appeals System (ECAS) favored
Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Willing to learn new electronic programs
Excellent research and writing skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, work efficiently, and anticipate required tasks for project completion

Nice to have:

Familiarity with USCIS filing procedures and EOIR Courts and Appeals System (ECAS)
Paralegal certification
