The Irradiator Operator will ensure high quality and reliable processes, manage Gamma Sterilization Operations, and comply with regulatory standards while supporting production needs. Responsibilities include maintenance, documentation, coordination with internal and external clients, and adherence to safety and health protocols.
Job Responsibility:
Assist Sterilization Supervisor in managing the Gamma Sterilization Operations
comply with Irradiator Operator Qualification Required by UNNRC
follow US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulation (US NRC) and support an ALARA (As Low As Reasonable Achievable) operation
actively report health and safety hazards, environmental aspects, incidents, and EHS management system risks and opportunities
report any events or incidents related to the Irradiator operation to the Radiation Safety Officer
participate in the development, planning, implementation, performance evaluation and actions for continuous improvement of the EHS Management System
stop activities RSO considers unsafe
analyze potential safety consequences of non-routine operations before conducting such activities
maintain appropriate records associated with irradiator operations
coordinate the operation of the Gamma Irradiator for sterilization of medical devices
lead Sterilization Operators and perform tier meetings
perform and/or assist scheduled safety checks of the irradiator
ensure proper utilization of equipment assigned to Gamma Sterilization Operation
repair and maintain the irradiator and plant facility equipment
troubleshoot irradiator systems and document downtime
operate production machines or facility equipment
maintain communications with manufacturing departments and external Sterilization Services Customers for product sterilization scheduling
process dose audits, dose studies, and pre-qualifications for new products
prioritize multiple tasks.
Requirements:

disassemble equipment, disconnect controls, and remove defective parts to repair or substitute
perform preventive maintenance regulatory task according to established standards
troubleshoot irradiator systems with proper documentation
strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication
ability to perform mathematical calculations and analyze problems
mechanical and troubleshooting abilities
proficient with computer systems
knowledge in NRC regulations
Bachelor’s degree in Science/Technical related field preferred with 0 - 2 years of related experience or Associate/Technical Degree with 2 - 5 years of related experience
Spanish with oral and written proficiency in English
bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
