Job Description:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Specialty Software Engineer to join the dynamic Database Resiliency Engineering Team. Work on cutting-edge projects involving Core Modernization, Cloud migrations, and setting up best practices for both SQL and NoSQL databases.

Job Responsibility:

Lead complex initiatives on selected domains
Ensure systems are monitored to increase operational efficiency and managed to mitigate risk
Define opportunities to maximize resource utilization and improve processes while reducing cost
Lead, design, develop, test and implement applications and system components, tools and utilities, models, simulation, and analytics to manage complex business functions using sophisticated technologies
Resolve coding, testing and escalated platform issues of a technically challenging nature
Lead team to ensure compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
Mentor less experienced software engineers
Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including managers
Lead team to achieve objectives
Partner with production support and platform engineering teams effectively

Requirements:

5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
5+ years of database engineering experience in distributed database technologies
5+ years expertise in database management (managing complex relational and NoSQL databases)
4+ years of cloud development experience

Nice to have:

Proficiency in data modelling techniques for relational and non-relational databases
Understanding internals of database architecture
Strong knowledge of all cloud concepts and production resilience concepts
Ability to lead and influence others and critique their work
Strong relationship skills
Deep skills in at least two technical domains
Experience in working with cloud databases like Amazon RDS, Aurora and migration of on-prem databases
Deep understanding of database security best practices, encryption techniques, RBAC access control, compliance like GDPR
Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve database performance bottlenecks
Deep working knowledge of Oracle, CockroachDB, PostgresSQL, MongoDB
