Job Description:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Specialty Software Engineer to join the dynamic Database Resiliency Engineering Team. Work on cutting-edge projects involving Core Modernization, Cloud migrations, and setting up best practices for both SQL and NoSQL databases.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead complex initiatives on selected domains
  • Ensure systems are monitored to increase operational efficiency and managed to mitigate risk
  • Define opportunities to maximize resource utilization and improve processes while reducing cost
  • Lead, design, develop, test and implement applications and system components, tools and utilities, models, simulation, and analytics to manage complex business functions using sophisticated technologies
  • Resolve coding, testing and escalated platform issues of a technically challenging nature
  • Lead team to ensure compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
  • Mentor less experienced software engineers
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including managers
  • Lead team to achieve objectives
  • Partner with production support and platform engineering teams effectively

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of database engineering experience in distributed database technologies
  • 5+ years expertise in database management (managing complex relational and NoSQL databases)
  • 4+ years of cloud development experience

Nice to have:

  • Proficiency in data modelling techniques for relational and non-relational databases
  • Understanding internals of database architecture
  • Strong knowledge of all cloud concepts and production resilience concepts
  • Ability to lead and influence others and critique their work
  • Strong relationship skills
  • Deep skills in at least two technical domains
  • Experience in working with cloud databases like Amazon RDS, Aurora and migration of on-prem databases
  • Deep understanding of database security best practices, encryption techniques, RBAC access control, compliance like GDPR
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve database performance bottlenecks
  • Deep working knowledge of Oracle, CockroachDB, PostgresSQL, MongoDB
