Job Description:

A unique opportunity to lead data protection and compliance initiatives in a top-tier multinational organization. The role involves maintaining and improving data protection policies, risk management, and regulatory compliance while collaborating with global teams and supporting operations.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee and support data privacy and protection initiatives, including compliance assessments and internal risk management
Develop and maintain privacy policies, ensuring they align with company operations and regulatory requirements
Act as a key contact for internal stakeholders, providing guidance on privacy, security, and compliance-related matters
Conduct regular training programs to educate employees on privacy best practices and regulatory obligations
Support contract review and negotiation for agreements involving data processing, confidentiality, and security
Assist with internal audits, regulatory reporting, and risk management strategies
Collaborate with global legal, IT, and compliance teams to ensure alignment with international data protection policies
Monitor changes in Japanese and international privacy regulations, proactively advising on necessary policy updates

Requirements:

At least 3 years of legal experience (ideally with a focus on data privacy, compliance, or regulatory matters)
Strong understanding of privacy and information security regulations in Japan and internationally
Fluency in Japanese (native level) and business-level English
Experience in a law firm or an in-house legal/compliance team (multinational company preferred)
Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong skills in internal stakeholder management, training, and regulatory interpretation
