Job Description:
Our client, one of the most established law firms in Quebec, is seeking a legal assistant for its Montreal office to assist litigation professionals. The successful candidate stands out for their rigor, organizational skills, and prioritization, which allow them to manage multiple files simultaneously. Resourceful and with a strong focus on client service, they enjoy working in a team and virtually, and contribute significantly to the success of the office and the litigation department.
Job Responsibility:
  • Effectively coordinate the monitoring of files, deadlines, and agendas
  • Perform basic legal checks in various computer databases (SOQUIJ, REQ, land registry, etc.)
  • Prepare and assist professionals in drafting correspondence, procedural documents, agreements, and various legal documents
  • Participate in the opening, monitoring, updating, closing, and archiving of physical and computer files
  • Compile and manage document requests from third parties
  • Review and index transcripts
  • Create and update document indexes
  • Prepare authority, procedure, and commitment books
  • Prepare expense reports
  • Organize and manage file documentation
  • Review and correct professionals' billing documents in collaboration with the billing department
  • Assist professionals in preparing files and trials
  • All other related tasks
Requirements:
  • AEC or DEP in secretarial work with legal certification OR relevant work experience
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written
  • Good command of English, both spoken and written (regular English-speaking clientele)
  • Good command of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Maître and/or Carpe Diem software (an asset)
  • Highly developed customer service skills with good communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly approach
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness, and a strong team player
