Job Description:

The purpose of a Medical Scribe at Oak Street Health is to support primary care providers with clinical documentation for high-quality patient care. This role involves documenting patient visits, improving clinical documentation, and providing administrative support in a primary care setting. Ideal for individuals pursuing careers in medicine, public health, or healthcare administration.

Job Responsibility:

Documenting patient encounters in a structured note
Preparing after-visit summaries
Assigning appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes
Requesting and reviewing medical records
Leveraging population health tools to support clinical documentation improvement
Preparing for and supporting daily huddles and clinical documentation reviews
Placing orders and referrals
Addressing tasks
Supporting the care team with clinical documentation

Requirements:

Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications, either from a pre-medical degree or prior clinical experience
Prior clinical experience, including shadowing and/or volunteering
Advanced listening and communication skills
Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows
Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by people in the communities we serve
Ability to adapt to new workflows and to quickly learn new concepts and skills
Ability to type 70+ words per minute
Excellent job attendance including ability to work in-person in clinics
Ability to commit to at least 1 year in role
Ability to work approximately 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours (full-time position)
Compliance with hospital and Oak Street Health policies, including HIPAA
US work authorization

Nice to have:

Prior scribe or transcription experience
Fluency in languages such as Spanish, Polish, or Russian
