Job Description:

Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services is hiring a Mobile Diesel & Trailer Mechanic to provide on-site maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. The position involves preventative maintenance, diagnostic work, and repairs, as well as managing parts inventory and adhering to safety standards and documentation requirements. Job Responsibility:

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer equipment and systems such as brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, and brake chambers
Inspect, test, and identify conditions of defective equipment such as using handheld computers and pressure gauges
Road test vehicles to ensure proper function and diagnose malfunctions
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck
Manage daily schedule, parts sourcing, and company documentation using iOS devices and the TRAIT application
Obtain repair estimates and communicate findings with management via email or phone
Operate and maintain service vehicle with pre-/post-trip safety inspections
Comply with company health and environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations

Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline
or 5 years’ experience in a related field
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months
This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment
A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required
Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older
Safe drivers needed and 3 YR MVR review required
Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File (DQF) and be eligible to drive in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements

ASE 608/609 certification
