Job Description:

The Operational Excellence Manager role is focused on leading and driving projects to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity in operations at a distribution center. The candidate will be responsible for continuous improvement activities, lean implementation, labor management, and process design/improvement. The role collaborates with multiple teams and requires travel up to 10-15% to other distribution centers.

Job Responsibility:

  • deliver capacity improvements to the operations by identifying and executing kaizens to remove bottlenecks, increase storage density, and ultimately meet customer demand
  • identify and improve safety at the site through use of technology, layout, improved ergonomics, and 5S process
  • support sites with problem solving techniques to achieve world-class quality
  • apply engineering methodologies/tools to improve processes and drive waste reduction
  • improve effectiveness of tier meetings and implement standard work
  • plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously, utilizing strong project management skills
  • translate data into information via reports and dashboards for decision-making
  • maintain and optimize standards to drive informed decision-making

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, distribution or process structured environment
  • bachelor’s degree in technical or business degree
  • lean yellow or green belt certification
  • strong interpersonal & communication skills, self-motivated, customer-oriented, and successful at managing multiple priorities and tasks
  • strong analytical thinking and critical thinking skills and working with data/reports
  • should be able to work with a multidisciplinary approach in problem-solving (DMAIC) and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related engineering/science/business fields
  • 7+ years’ experience in a manufacturing, distribution center or process oriented environment with 3+ in continuous improvement, industrial engineering, or process engineering
  • standards-based time and motion study systems such as MOST
  • Manhattan or INFOR WMS system experience a plus
  • Power BI or Tableau dashboard creation experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Black certification or similar
  • create project budgets and financial justifications related to capital expenditure equipment/projects
  • comfortable creating and presenting concepts within a team of direct peers as well as senior-level management
  • good verbal and written communications skills in English (Spanish a plus)
