We are in search of a Paralegal to join our team in the Legal sector, based in Washington, District of Columbia. In this role, you will be responsible for various tasks, including drafting and finalizing legal documents, maintaining electronic case files, and coordinating service of legal documents.
Job Responsibility:
Efficient and accurate processing of legal documents such as pro hac vice motions, proposed orders, notices of appearance, summonses, and affidavits of service
Assisting in the drafting and/or finalization of substantive pleadings and discovery requests/responses
Performing substantive cite-checking and formatting citations in accordance with Bluebook standards
Coordinating the service of complaints and subpoenas, ensuring all procedures are followed
Maintaining up-to-date electronic case files, including pleadings and discovery
Keeping track of dockets and calendaring court appearances and deadlines
Assisting with document review and managing productions using e-discovery software
Facilitating with depositions, including preparation and service of deposition notices and subpoenas, coordinating court reporters, preparation of exhibits, and preparation of digests
Supporting with trial and hearing preparation, including preparation of exhibits and securing transcripts
E-filing in federal and state courts to ensure all documents are properly submitted and tracked.
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Paralegal role, preferably within the legal industry
Proficiency in using Adobe Acrobat for document creation and editing
Knowledge of Case Management Software for efficient organization and tracking of cases
Familiarity with CompuLaw for managing deadlines and schedules
Ability to handle billing functions accurately and efficiently
Experience in briefing teams or individuals on case details and updates
Strong ability in managing calendars, coordinating meetings, and scheduling appointments
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficiency in cite checking to ensure legal documents are correctly referenced
Experience in civil litigation, including preparation and filing of documents
Previous civil litigation experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department
Knowledge of civil rights litigation, including case laws and legal procedures
Strong understanding of civil procedures and rules of court
Experience in commercial litigation, including contract disputes and business torts
Ability to draft and file complaints in various courts
Experience in handling complex business litigation, including multi-district litigation
Knowledge of complex litigation procedures and strategies
Experience in court proceedings, including hearings and trials
Proficiency in e-Filing systems for submission of court documents.
