Job Description:

Our client in the Nashville area is seeking a detail-oriented Interim Payroll Manager to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to utilize your payroll expertise, ensure timely and accurate employee payments, and support a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility:

Manage and oversee the preparation, processing, and reconciliation of payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
Collaborate with HR and finance teams to address payroll-related discrepancies and ensure accurate tax reporting
Stay up to date on payroll laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure organizational compliance
Provide leadership and guidance to payroll staff, ensuring deadlines are met and workflows are optimized
Generate and analyze payroll reports to advise leadership and support proper decision-making

Requirements:

Previous experience as a Payroll Manager or in a leadership role within the payroll department
Expertise in payroll tax laws, FLSA compliance, and multi-state payroll regulations
Strong knowledge of garnishments, benefits deductions, and union payroll (if applicable)
Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice to have:

Proficiency in one or more payroll and Human Resources systems, such as ADP Workforce Now, Paycom or Workday Payroll
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite or Sage Intacct is a plus
