Job Description:

We are partnering with an educational institution in Dover, DE who is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist on a contract-to-hire basis! As a key member of our team, you will be tasked with a variety of payroll functions to ensure efficient and accurate processing and record-keeping.

Job Responsibility:

Accurately allocate work to other Payroll Personnel
Keep abreast of department procedural changes and ensure these are communicated to the relevant Payroll Personnel
Utilize the PeopleSoft module for processing payroll
Support the Payroll Director in processing and reconciling payroll
Conduct research to resolve payroll discrepancies and issues with outstanding payments and funding distribution
Collaborate with the Assistant Controller to provide necessary audit documents and resolve payroll-related inquiries
Assist in managing the leave calendar and maintaining accurate personnel time records
Contribute to planning and implementing strategies to meet service levels in an efficient manner
Support year-end processes, leave database functions, and reporting
Facilitate 990 Reporting and State Pension Reporting
Aid in managing employee FMLA, Short Term Disability, Workers Compensation, and Leaves of Absence, as well as employee terminations and retirements

Requirements:

Prior experience as a Payroll Specialist for at least 3 years
Proven ability to process payroll accurately and efficiently
Comprehensive understanding of local payroll tax laws and regulations
Experience in performing all payroll functions including wage deductions, benefits, and payroll discrepancies
Ability to reconcile payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and policies
