Job Description:

The Principal Data Scientist at T-Mobile encompasses tasks such as conducting market analysis, developing an opportunity pipeline, collaborating with clients to ascertain technical specifications for proof-of-concepts (POC), producing team training materials, and promoting thought leadership. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in both business and technology, equipping them to engage with cross-functional teams effectively. You will possess specialized knowledge in Generative AI and significant machine learning applications, along with experience in system and solution development on Edge devices. Your technical expertise will enable you to clearly convey the advantages of our Generative AI services and solutions to data scientists and C-Level executives. Furthermore, you will have a solid grasp of current trends, the ecosystem, and opportunities within the Generative AI market, demonstrating a strong enthusiasm for market development and advocacy. Proficiency in interacting, communicating, and collaborating with both internal teams and external customers and partners is essential.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leads and mentors a team of data scientists in the development of data science solutions
  • Manages data science projects from inception to completion, applying advanced analytical techniques
  • Designs and implements algorithms in data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence
  • Enhances the company's capabilities in predictive analytics and decision-making
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders to translate data-driven insights into strategic actions
  • Contributes to maintaining the company's position as a leader in the telecommunications industry
  • Participates in other duties or projects as assigned by business management as needed

Requirements:

  • 7+ years proven experience in predictive modeling, data science, and analysis in an ML engineer or data scientist role building and deploying ML models or hands on experience developing deep learning models
  • 4+ years demonstrated ability writing and speaking about technical concepts to business, technical, and lay audiences and giving data-driven presentations while articulating and translating business questions and using statistical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data
  • 4+ years experience with data querying, wrangling, cleaning, and feature engineering in big data environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
  • 4+ years experience in deploying data mining, visualization, and machine learning solutions using tools like Python, R, SAS in big data environments
  • Proficiency in SQL for complex data querying and management
  • Expertise in designing and implementing algorithms for predictive analytics and decision-making
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of data scientists, driving project completion and innovation
  • Hands-on development experience with Azure services (e.g., Logic Apps, Function Apps, App Services, Blob Storage, CosmosDB)
  • Proficiency in GenAI workflows, including embedding, chunking, and working with LLM models such as GPT-4
  • Familiarity with managed identities and security integration within Azure environments
  • Skilled in managing data science projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Capability to translate data-driven insights into strategic actions that support business objectives
  • Bachelor's Degree Quantitative Subject area (math, statistics, economics, computer science, physics, engineering)
  • Master's/Advanced Degree Quantitative Discipline (math, statistics, economics, computer science, physics, engineering) (Preferred)
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
