We are on the lookout for a Principal Security Engineer who is deeply invested in the protection of data through innovative security strategies and technologies. If you excel in identifying vulnerabilities, crafting robust defense mechanisms, and staying ahead of the latest threats and compliance regulations, this role is for you. Join our team to lead the charge in protecting our organization's most valuable data assets, working collaboratively across departments to foster a culture of security and privacy that meets the highest industry standards.

Job Responsibility:

  • Promote automation
  • Review platform and service designs and architecture
  • Drive our security teams to equip the engineering partner teams with the latest tools, techniques and methodologies to improve data security
  • Partnering with our security teams and leadership groups across Atlassian's vast footprint to uplift our security programs.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated expertise and experience working in security-focused roles
  • In-depth experience in data protection and privacy
  • Experience with application security, especially web applications
  • Experience in cloud security architecture and infrastructure
  • Experience coding in Java, Javascript, Python, or Go, and at least one scripting language
  • Experience leading large-scale projects from start to finish and mentoring other security practitioners
  • Adept experience providing SME knowledge and guidance to stakeholders and engineering functions.

  • Contributions to open-source security software
  • Delivered industry presentations
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a technical leadership role within product security, with 2+ years of experience
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscape, and best practices
  • Strong knowledge of data security, privacy, encryption, and authentication methods
  • Experience with compliance standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, FedRAMP, or similar
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
