Job Description:

As a Principal Engineer at Baxter in the Materials Science Team, you will be responsible for designing and leading material science-related aspects of innovation, development, testing, and qualification for medical devices and drug products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to launch innovative solutions for patient care.

Job Responsibility:

Applies in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in polymer science, chemistry, and engineering to optimize material properties
schedules and leads a team through planning and execution of projects
communicates key information and recommendations to influence technical decisions
defines material requirements and develops specifications
devises new approaches to complex problems
may provide technical mentoring to entry-level engineers and scientists.

Requirements:

Minimum 8 years’ experience with B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent or 6+ years with a Masters
expertise in one or more of the following areas: polymer & drug compatibility, polymer chemistry, polymer physics, polymer rheology, polymer adhesion, polymer/rubber formulation, polymer coating, polymer processing, or polymer characterization
experience utilizing material characterization tools (e.g. thermal, mechanical, microscopy, optical, rheological, various chemistry analytical tools like HPLC, GCMS)
proven technical understanding of polymer science and engineering principles
preferred 3+ years of experience in Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industry
ability to solve material-related problems with minimal assistance
strong communication skills and ability to perform within a cross-functional team environment.
