Job Description:

We are seeking a committed and resilient Science Teacher to join our secondary alternative provision school in a nurturing and individualized learning environment for students with special educational needs (SEND). This role will focus on delivering accessible lessons and supporting students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

Job Responsibility:

plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters curiosity and a love for science
adapt curriculum content and teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students with SEND
implement effective behavior management strategies to ensure a positive and productive learning experience for all
collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, support staff, and the leadership team
demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all students

Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
experience teaching Science at the secondary level, ideally within an alternative provision or SEND setting
a deep understanding of the national curriculum for Science and its application to students with SEND
a compassionate and patient approach, coupled with strong classroom management skills
awareness of the increasing prevalence of mental health challenges amongst young people and a commitment to supporting student well-being

Nice to have:

experience in leading Science departments or coordinating subject areas
