Job Description:

Teacher of Science - Lead and Inspire in Challenging Times - Burgess Hill. Are you a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher with a heart for supporting students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges? We are a secondary alternative provision school in Burgess Hill, fully committed to providing a nurturing and individualized learning environment for students with special educational needs (SEND). Seeking a resilient Teacher of Science to join the team on a long-term supply basis to cover sickness absence.

Job Responsibility:

Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters curiosity and a love for science
adapt curriculum content and teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students with SEND
implement effective behavior management strategies to ensure a positive and productive learning experience for all
collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, support staff, and the leadership team
demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all students

Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
experience teaching Science at the secondary level, ideally within an alternative provision or SEND setting
a deep understanding of the national curriculum for Science and its application to students with SEND
a compassionate and patient approach, coupled with strong classroom management skills
awareness of the increasing prevalence of mental health challenges amongst young people and a commitment to supporting student well-being

Nice to have:

experience in leading Science departments or coordinating subject areas
